I've got to thank AB for bringing me this clip. Bush plays a good fool, almost believable. If he is this ignorant, he should have been impeached along time ago; now that Rumsfeld is gone, who will we ask now? The student asking the question probably prepared carefully; she was articulate, succint, and sincere. Bush, though, mocked her by delivering a faux-mockery of himself. He knows damn well what is happening with the rise of the private security industry.
Oh, man! Talk about interesting, and frightening, rhetorical strategies! You're right, though, that Bush plays a good fool here (and elsewhere). I imagine that few people would read this as Bush playing the fool -- it's easier to write him off as an idiot than it is to hold him responsible for what he does know full well.
